Dongju Seo
​서동주

Dongju Seo, born in 1995 in South Korea,

studied recorder for her Bachelor’s degree under Prof. Michael Schneider and Kerstin Fahr, and earned her Master’s degree under Prof. Jan van Hoecke at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK). 

 

During her studies, she was a finalist at the 11th International Telemann Competition in Magdeburg. In 2021, she founded Ensemble SOMO, which won first prize with a perfect score at the international recorder festival "Ensemble 2021" in Trossingen. In 2025, she successfully completed her Konzertexamen (highest performance degree)  under Prof. Jan van Hoecke and Kerstin Fahr.

She has participated in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Walter van Hauwe, Jesper Christensen, Antonio Politano, and Han Tol. As a soloist, she performed at the Isang Yun Festival in 2017 and has appeared in the Weilburg,  Kronberg, and Wiesbaden Palace Concerts.

Since 2022, she has been a member of the Saturday Recorder Quartet.  She is also a founding member of the ensemble Otium Moment (since 2023) and performed in the 2024 production of the opera "Xerxes" at the Stadttheater Gießen.
