Paula Rommel is a gambist and double bassist specializing in Historical Performance Practice (HIP). She began her musical education at the Folkwang Musikschule Essen and pursued pre-college studies in Bremen and Münster, followed by artistic studies with Prof. Stanislav Anischenko at the Detmold University of Music.

 

In 2021, she enrolled in the Master’s program for Historical Performance Practice at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK), studying violone and historical double bass under Dane Roberts. In 2023, she further expanded her profile with an additional Master’s degree in Viola da Gamba under the guidance of Heidi Gröger.

 

As a dedicated ensemble and continuo player, she performs regularly with renowned baroque orchestras and chamber formations, including CONCERTO KÖLN, MainBarockorchester, LesAmisConsort, and Unda Maris. With her ensemble LesAmisConsort, she was a finalist in the 2024 Biagio-Marini Competition.
