Based in Frankfurt am Main, Spanish violinist Sofía de Vicente Herrero is a dynamic performer specializing in historical performance practice. Her artistry spans a wide range of musical contexts, from intimate chamber music to large-scale orchestral productions.
Sofía earned her Bachelor’s degree at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid under Ana María Valderrama and Ana Comesaña before moving to Germany.
She completed her Master’s degree at the University of Music Freiburg with Julia Schröder and Anne Katharina Schreiber, during which she began her path in Baroque violin. Currently, she is pursuing a second Master’s in Historical Interpretations at the HfMDK Frankfurt under the tutelage of Petra Müllejans.
Her musical development has been enriched by collaborations with distinguished artists such as Shunske Sato, Leila Schayegh, and Kristian Bezuidenhout. She performs regularly with prestigious ensembles including the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, Kammerorchester Basel, Neumeyer Consort, and Ensemble Il Capriccio.
In addition to her work in early music, Sofía has extensive experience as a modern violinist. She held a temporary contract with the Freiburg Philharmonic Orchestra in 2022 and has performed with major Spanish orchestras like ORCAM. Her international career has taken her to stages across Europe, the Middle East, and Russia.
