Moeko Aiba
​모에코 아이바

Moeko Aiba has been performing extensively across Europe, Asia and the United States, where she has given concerts in prestigious venues, such as Carnegie Hall in NY, Alte Oper in Frankfurt to Suntory Hall in Tokyo.

Born in 1995, she began playing the cello at the age of 4 with Jennifer Jahn in the USA. She studied at the Folkwang UdK, completed with top grades under Prof. Christoph Richter. (with Germany scholarship). She is currently studying for a master degree in historical interpretation practice at the Frankfurt HfMDK with Prof. Kristin von der Goltz.

 

As an academy member, she performed with CONCERTO KÖLN leaded by of Shunsuke Sato, zamus:academy, Ensemble Akademie Freiburg, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment Experience Scheme,  the Académie Gli Incogniti, and the Ambronay Academy S-EEEMERGING, working under the direction of Amandine Beyer. She took part in numerous master classes from renowned musicians such as Christophe Coin, Guido Larisch, Werner Matzke and Mime Brinkmann, Midori Seiler, Michael Schneider, Karl Kaiser, Christine Schornsheim,  Antoine Torunczyk and Gottfried von der Goltz.

 

Since 2025, she has been a member of YOCPA under the direction of Jordi Savall and has participated,  under his guidance, in tours with Le Concert des Nations.

At the 2025 International Telemann Competition, she and her Lotus Ensemble were awarded the Audience Prize,  the Bärenreiter Urtext Prize, and the Special Prize for Kleiner Kammermusik. In addition,  she was a finalist with Ensemble AMA at the Premio Bonporti Competition. she also won Third Prize at the 28th Chamber Music Competition of the Polytechnische Gesellschaft.

In addition to her work in chamber music, she is also active as a soloist and has performed Vivaldi’s Cello Concerto under the direction of Maurice Steger.
