Baroque Viola
Naru Yamamoto
​나루 야마모토

Naru Yamamoto, born in Osaka, began his musical studies at the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo.  After moving to Germany, he studied modern viola at the Detmold University of Music (Musikhochschule Detmold)

under Prof. Veit Hertenstein. From 2019 to 2021, he gained valuable orchestral experience as an intern with the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra.

In 2024, he successfully completed his Master’s degree in Historical Performance Practice (HIP), specializing in baroque Viola under Prof. Petra Müllejans and Werner Saller at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK).

As a sought-after baroque violist, he performs regularly with renowned ensembles such as the Neumeyer Consort, the Main-Barockorchester, and the Freiburger Barockorchester. Since 2025, he has been a member of YOCPA (Young Orchestra of the Concert des Nations) under the direction of Jordi Savall. Furthermore, he is a founding member of the ensemble Otium Moment (since 2023),  with which he realizes various artistic projects.
